I went to lunch with a few friends to a steakhouse in Capitol Hill called Manhattan. Out of the different lunch menus that I looked at, this restaurant looked like they had really good dishes overall. I’ve never been here before and I love trying new places 🙂
Atmosphere: It looked teeny tiny from the outside, but once you go inside, it’s definitely larger than I expected. It’s a little dim inside, but they have high ceilings with really nice chandeliers. It’s a pretty rustic environment with wooden tables and chairs. There are also booths around the side.
Pricing: For this SRW lunch, it is 3 courses for $15! In my opinion, it’s a super deal for what you get. One entree is probably about that price.
Service: I thought it was pretty decent service for our large party. They were also able to split our checks individually, which I think is a huge plus!
My friend’s appetizer: Pacific northwest chowder with bacon, scallops, salmon, croutons, and white cheddar
My appetizer: Lemon pepper fried shrimp with honey mustard sauce. Nothing spectacular about this dish, I think it tasted as how I expected it would!
My friend’s entree: Champagne buttermilk waffle with crispy, airline chicken breast topped with sausage gravy and maple syrup. The waffle was good, but the chicken was a little dry.
My entree: build your own mac and cheese – I added pork belly and dungeness crab to mine. It also came with kale. This was a huge serving and very rich. Sad to say I left my leftovers at the restaurant 🙁 My other friend’s entree: 5oz steak sandwich with arugula, blue cheese, caramelized onions, roasted garlic & horseradish spread with steak fries. I noticed that it was very difficult to eat… but it looked good!
My dessert: Green tea espresso panna cotta with strawberries. I thought it was okay, the espresso layer was gelatinous and not really what I expected.
Overall: I thought this restaurant was alright! There wasn’t really a huge dynamic of interesting flavors compared to other places I’ve tried. I think I’d come back to their happy hour, which is all day Monday. There are some cheap small plate deals, but I don’t think I’d come back for dinner/brunch/lunch. Nothing really wowed me!
