Dumplings galore!

Sorry for not posting in a while! I went to Shanghai and Vietnam for the last three weeks. But on the bright side, I took lots of food pictures (not with the 30D, but with a point and shoot that I have, the quality should still be okay!).

After 11 hours on a plane, our first stop was Shanghai, China. My brother found a really good place with deep fried dumplings, called Yang’s Fried Dumplings. They were soup dumplings that are deep fried on the outside, magical tasting. 4 dumplings for less than a dollar! What a great deal.. seating area was always packed. My parents loved this place, in addition to dumplings, they also served noodles in soup. They went here twice in two days!

You’ve gotta take a small bite into it, then suck all the soup out of it.. otherwise if you just go for it, you’ll get splattered in all directions. Lesson learned!

When you’re in Shanghai, my brother also looked up the world renowned Din Tai Fung. I haven’t been to the one in Bellevue yet, but I hear it is quite pricey. Luckily, this one wasn’t as pricey!

This is pork and sticky rice shumai, one of my favorite that I ate. The sticky rice is a really nice touch.

These are red bean dumplings, quite interesting. Not sure if I like it so much as a main course as opposed to a usual dessert.

The dessert was by far the best part. Shaved ice with red bean, mochi balls (small and large) flavored with mango and taro, milk frost on top. Taste of heaven.

Would I try it in Bellevue? Sure! Only if they have dessert 😉
